Caledon Town Hall Café expands offerings for staff and residents

CALEDON, ON (June 10, 2025) – The Town of Caledon is proud to announce the enhancement of the Town Hall café, a revitalized concept of how the space can be used, serving as a welcoming, functional hub for both town staff and residents.

This is a key milestone for the organization and was identified as a priority project following staff and community feedback. This initiative underscores the Town’s ongoing commitment to improving the workplace experience for staff while also enhancing service and accessibility for the public.

As part of the enhanced offerings, the Town of Caledon recently secured more than $22,000 in funding as part of the New Horizons for Seniors Program, which supports projects that enrich the lives of older adults and strengthen their communities.

Beginning in July, Generations in the Kitchen will invite Caledon seniors and their youth chef to come to the café and participate in cooking lessons together. The workshop is designed to explore the joys of cooking, baking, and decorating. This interactive, educational session will teach both basic techniques, along with essential kitchen safety skills. For registration details visit caledon.ca/adult55.

The café is also hosting Food and Friends: 55+ Social Breakfast Program, a new community initiative aimed at reducing social isolation and improving food security for adults aged 55 and older in Caledon. Residents are invited to enjoy a free breakfast and meet fellow seniors in town in a welcoming and inclusive space. Breakfast will be held weekly on Friday mornings beginning July 11 from 9:30 – 11:30 a.m. Register here to secure your spot.

"The Town Hall café has been transformed into a vibrant hub where community and connection take centre stage. Programs like Generations in the Kitchen and the 55+ Social Breakfast reflect Caledon’s commitment to inclusion and innovation, while offering meaningful support to our seniors. This is community-building in action," said Mayor Annette Groves.

Additionally, as part of the Town’s efforts to support local, the Café is hosting monthly Café Love Local days for staff where different Caledon restaurants are featured, giving staff an opportunity to come together and enjoy some of the flavours Caledon has to offer.

“The café enhancements go beyond a physical space – it’s about building a vibrant hub where our staff feel valued and energized, and our community feels welcome,” said Nathan Hyde, CAO. “This space is designed to inspire connection, well-being, and a shared sense of purpose. It reflects our commitment to creating a supportive, and engaging environment for both employees and residents,” he continued.
